ASPIE now has 3 support groups to meet your needs!

ASPIE Parents- Professionals

For parents of children with Asperger's

Syndrome, care providers, teachers and other professionals.  Meetings feature guest speakers and open discussion forums so that information may be shared and exchanged.

ASPIE ADULTS

For adults with Asperger's Syndrome age 18 and older.  This group is facilitated by a specialist in

 Asperger's Syndrome and provides an opportunity for attendees to interact socially and exchange information on a variety of needed support topics.

ASPIE TEENS

For teens with Asperger's Syndrome age 13-17. This group is facilitated by Justin Moehn, a young adult with AS. Issues of importance to teens are discussed at each meeting. Please RSVP to aspiesupport@

the Monday prior to the meeting on Thursday. If there are less than 4 confirmations, the TEEN group will be cancelled.  Parents must be in attendance at the Parent meeting in order for their child to attend the TEEN group.

Please review the following Board Member/Committee information.  If you are

interested in holding an office or being on a committee, please email ASPIE at

support@aspieinfo.com.   To be a board member, you must be a dues-paying

member of ASPIE.  Your name will be submitted to the executive board of

directors for consideration and nominations/elections will be held annually at

the January meeting.   Thank you for your help and support!

           OFFICER INFORMATION:   

                             PRESIDENT – Presides over meetings; arranges for monthly speakers; manages  

                                        e-mail/mailing lists; coordinates activities with committee chairmen;

                                        oversees newsletter production.  Time commitment – approx. 10 hours/month. 

                             VICE-PRESIDENT – Presides over meetings in absence of president; helps gather and

                                        organize AS-related information for meetings, website and newsletter; assists

                                        president in any other executive duties.  Time commitment – approx.  5 hours/month.

                             TREASURER – Oversees finances, including issuing/depositing checks; maintaining

                                        financial records; reporting to Board of Directors on financial matters.                          

                                        Time commitment – approx.  3 hours/month.                                                                                                        

                                PUBLICITY - Gathers information for newsletter; maintains website; maintains media contact

                                           lists and may distribute press releases to news media; helps distribute information

                                           at and between meetings.  Time commitment – approx.  3 hours/month

                                SECRETARY – Takes brief minutes of meetings.  Sends out monthly meeting notices via email;

                                           Maintains email account;  Reads and answers email correspondence;

                                           Provides other correspondence as needed.  Time commitment – approx.  3 hours/month 

                             COMMITTEE INFORMATION:  

           HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE:  Helps with refreshments for meetings and seminars. 

            INFORMATION COMMITTEE:  Helps gather information for meetings, website and newsletter.  

            EDUCATION:  Serves as a liaison between ASPIE and local school district to held keep educators

                         aware of meetings and events and to act as an AS resource for school districts. 

            PARENT PARTNERS:  Experienced parents willing to share information via phone or

                         e-mail with parents of newly diagnosed children.
